Salixia Update

Salixia

My current project. Far from being done but I thought it wouldn't hurt me to post an update. Let me introduce to you : Salixia. Her mother was a nymph and her father a faune. She got the pure beauty of a nymph but the horns and hoofs from her father.

Practice

Not much to say about this drawing other then I made it to practice some. I don't like it a lot as the girl doesn't really have an emotion.

Alone in the dark, are you?

Another unfinished idea. As a little girl I was affraid of the dark. I was affraid of seeing red eyes glowing from behind the windows or monsters hiding in my closets or ghosts hidden in my mirrors. In the dark, cloths on chairs seem monsters and windows seem dark mirrors to evil worlds. My idea was the draw a girl walking in a dark forrest but all the monsters hiding in the shadows aren't monsters at all when she comes up close. Weird insects become butterflies and shadows become normal forrest animals or even bushes. I got the idea of making her glow from the movie stardust. The idea is to make her surroundings light green with butterflies, flowers etc. The rest needs to stay very dark and mysterious. I want to have a painty feel to the forrest in contrast with the real picture I used for the girl (again http://mjranum-stock.deviantart.com/) the ferret on her leg is my own sweet little deamon, demi.
I also want this drawing to symbolise being insecure about things. When you are insecure about something usually when you either experience or when you think about it later there was nothing to be insecure about.

Northern Lights

I was reading the northern lights trilogy and I adore the idea of having deamons. Deamons are your soul and are shaped like animals. So I got to the idea of making a sort of witchlike character with her deamon. She travelled far through the snow from other continents or maybe even other worlds. I wanted her deamon to have the same expression as she has because they are one. The idea was to have Northern lights in the background and to give her a big furry coat which had the same furr as the big cat I still didn't get around to finish the idea though but maybe I will when my skills of combining pictures with drawing are a bit better. Inspired by a picture I made of a bird in South Africa. I made this in photoshop CS3 with my wacom intuos 4

Pirate

To practice I made this pirate girl. I could still work on it for hours but for now I concider it done. Maybe I'll do something crazy to her hair or things like that later. I have lot's of ideas but for now I'm gonna work on something else. I hope you'll like it!

For my trip to Africa I bought a Panasonic Lumix FZ28. I really love photographing! So with this new superzoom camera I already had a lot of fun. I will upload the best pictures I made in Africa a little later. Here are some pictures I made from the dunes during the winter and a picture of the moon.

Drawing

I've been practicing my drawing skills on both paper and photoshop as a result these two images .The drawing resembles me in the wild as I was missing Africa and all the animal there a lot! The drawing I made in photoshop is actually not done yet but I probably won't finish it soon or maybe at all so I uploaded it anyways.
